Like punching in a dream

topshop knit leopard print dress £45 £24, leather vintage rucksack ebay £14, french supermarket black velvet blazer, topshop tights £8, primark chain necklace £3, primark ring £1

You'll agree I'm looking panicked. Probably because my hand has turned into a claw? Anyway, I hope that you celebrated the arrival of 2011 (better known as... 2k11) in a fanstastically whimsical way, whether you were simply chilling or partying. I did indeed crack out the leather trousers, but thinking about it, it would have made more sense to wear them before Christmas and not a squillion calories later. But I don't regret stuffing my face in any way at all. I had fun. A week later I was still feasting decadently, with cheesecake and yule log for breakfast. Hmmm. Can't see any logic whatsoever in that... And I part with a gift, the gift of music. If this doesn't work, have a link.

Won't you agree that this song is excellent, and that I hit jackpot in the Topshop sales with this dress? Apparently it even has angora in it (ooooooooh).
+ BLIMEY. First post ever with straightened hair! A few days old, it does get straighter!

Under the influence

charity shop shorts (£2), river island DIY-ed collared top (£3), vintage bag (from mother) &  belt, flea market earrings (£1), car boot sale cowboy boots (£1), primark sunglasses (£1)
Underage festival on Sunday - Courteeners, Darwin Deez, MIA, Lightspeed Champion, Tinie Tempah, Tinchy Stryder, Chiddy Bang, Ellie Goulding, Stornaway... And so much more. Special thanks to Meg, who got the tickets :)
It was my second time to the festival, and ended up being a very dusty experience.
And yes, I'm wearing a bumbag/ fannypack. It was my mums from the 80's, true vintage. This isn't my first time at a festival, and I've always hated carrying a bag when jumping around in crowds and being sucked into moshpits. This is the answer. When I'm not bouncing about, I wear as a shoulder bag. Hey, if Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana and Marc Jacobs can do them, so can I.

1. Looking back, I'll chop slash fray these shorts shorter. I think I'm accidentally channelling "lesbian clown".
2. Isn't it a weird moment when you realise you're wearing nothing over £3? Oh sorry, you wouldn't know, you're not a tramp :)
3. See y'all

Crack a broken bone

carboot sale white lace scarf, car boot sale zara cardigan, topshop grey tunic, random plaited belt, h&m sunglasses, car boot sale bag
Ok, I lie, this isn't actually a scarf. Its a long rectangular piece of white lace, and I think it's originally a curtain, but hey, it was 70p! Can't go wrong with a 70p bit of synthetic curtain! I felt weird wearing it because it then meant I couldn't wear a necklace, and I felt NAKED. Still, good call on wearing the curtain as it was SO windy that day. I'll show the bag properly next time (£1). Anyway, I only have 7 exams left, out of my 16! Freedom is close..
x
And damn, I missed the fortnightly car boot sale. Party the night before + 8.30AM Sunday morning wake up + trains down = Bed till 12.
Look left, see the music? PLAY. And I didn't set it to autoplay because that seriously gets annoying sometimes. BUT LISTEN, it's a bloody amazing tune. "Blues Blood Blues" by "The Dead Weather"

Hold your devil by his spoke and spin him to the ground

Fall collections? I'm sure you're pretty bored of seeing them by now, besides.. I can't plan tomorrow, let alone 6months ahead. Although I definitely see the need for an aviator jacket, inspired by Burberry Prorsum.
^in Tescos*, stocking up on cream soda and kettle chips before settling down to a lazy afternoon of CallOfDuty6 on the PS3 with friends. (Sorry, teenager.)

vintage check shirt && bag, h&m leather bomber jacket, new look boots, primark tights, topshop black dress, scarf ???

Just a few points.
  • The jacket turned grey in the wash, I still say a tenner well spent.
  • I'm addicted to listening to "Videophone" (Beyonce and Lady Gaga). Hopefully I'll get over it soon.
  • Also, I might watch "Jersey Shore" - anyone know if it's any good?
  • Looking forward to Alice in Wonderland, despite disappointing reviews.
  • My art exam is next week, the theme is "Journey", yet my project is leading nowhere.
  • Post title taken from Laura Marling's "Devil's Spoke". Quality song.
*Sorry, just remembered something that made me laugh:
"Try something new today!" - Sainsburys
"Yeah, I'll try Tesco's."

Until next time x

Don't look back into the sun

Long time no post, but hey I've had exams! This jumper was a present from my mum for getting an A* in my Maths GCSE early.. One down, nine to go! AND I'M SEEING JAMIE T TONIGHT I'M SO EXCITED!

topshop jumper and skirt, vintage bag and pearls
Sorry for the weird lighting, when your 8year old brother helps you take photographs, it can't be helped! Oh and have a weird photo from a reflection in glass. The light is pretty :)

Madames and monsieurs please return to your cubicles

Haha, shoot me now. NYE photos.. over two weeks late.
I had an awesome night, thank you Izzy :)
She kindly donated a house to trash.
Hey, I helped tidy up! A bit.
Me in action. Attractive. Huh. Where are my heels??
Oh and the this picture is purely for my own (and your) amusement. I have no idea as to what was going through my mind at this point.
For the more observant of you, yes I'm wearing different blazers in each photo. Don't ask.

The dress is actually my mothers from the 80's, I've only had the privilege of wearing once before to a Barbie party :) What would I do without my family and their clothes?

vintage sequin dress, blazer of a brother, tuxedo of a father, mask of another brother..

P.S the post title is from a song by the Maccabees (who are pretty good btw) who actually wrote the song about a swimming pool @ a leisure centre I attended as a kid.. Small world huh?

Into the garden, under the ivy

I went to an evil themed party recently, I went as a vampire (original, I know) and I've got a Moulin Rouge themed party next - my outfit will be pretty much the same but with more things feathery, glittery and red. And minus the tears of blood from my eyes.

Under the leaves,
Away from the party,
Right to the rose,
Right to the white rose
For me.
Not sure I like this post, its a bit too messy for my liking...
I've eventually got round to showing you this dress I made. It's a bit of a basic outfit, floral dress and a leather jacket (or should I say "pleather"?).
Really basic sewing: rectangle of Laura Ashley fabric, hemmed and then sewn to form a tube. Which is why it doesn't fit great, but there wasn't much fabric to work with. It was just leftover curtain material in my house.

One life here with me and it's magic

I've been so busy with work recently that the blog has become stagnant :( I've been trying to find work experience placements as well as revising for my maths GCSE which is on Tuesday... Wish me luck!

I've been really inspired by Ladyhawke (aka Pip Brown) recently. Her refusal to wear womens clothes paired with a bowler hat and her new song Magic (post title). Here are a few of my favourite photos of her. And hence have worn a baggy leather jacket and jumper for this next outfit. Which, incidentally, are both meant for boys.

dads jumper, h&m boys leather jacket, primark boots

P.S. Sorry I look so moody and evil in this photo, I'm not sure what happened here...
P.P.S. I have scheduled posts so I can regulate posts on the blog! Why didn't I think of this before??
P.P.P.S. But of course I will still get back to all your lovely comments!

I wanna do bad things with you..

1.It's been a busy month.. here's a few things that I've done..and an outfit!
vintage bag, topshop skirt, primark vest, french supermarket velvet blazer, necklace from a car boot sale

HYPE?

2. Here are some pictures I took at Bestival, a festival on the Isle of Wight. I never knew Mika had such stage presence! Other bands I saw were MGMT, Klaxons, FrankMusik, Lily Allen, Little Boots, Bat For Lashes and La Roux. It was an amazing weekend with great costumes due to the space theme.. I wore my AA skater dress with silver lips and starry accessories as the "Space Goddess". And the mandatory space boots, (see here for when I wore them).

3. Went on a picnic while the nice weather lasted.

4. I went a-camping and hiking. Good weather in October? What are the chances... Also, ALWAYS bring caramel waffles camping. They saved our lives (and legs).

5. Attended my friend's boyfriend's band's gig. It was a small crowd, but they're definitely the best: sweaty and intimate. :)

Until next time..

P.S. You might have noticed that the post title is from the soundtrack of "True Blood". I've just finished Season 1.. Anyone else obsessed?
P.P.S. You also might have noticed the change in header. I'd had the old one for waaaay too long. The painting of the girl is by me :)

This is a gift, it comes at a price

So sorry for the neglection of the blog! I would also like to say thank you for all the lovely comments, and I'm getting back to all of them! Anyways, heres an outfit I wore to a party...

Post title from Florence and the Machine, I saw her last year at a gig - amazing gold and silver face paint! Oh and my chosen song (Alright by Supergrass) and text message was played/read out on Xfm today! It made me so happy - it was todays "Songbook Status" :)

Squiggles of light

An eventful Friday:

3) 8.01am Georgia is at a live Frank Turner gig at Banquet Records
4) 8.43am Georgia is late for school

6) 10.26pm Georgia is at Trafalgar Square with other Michael Jackson supporters!!!Here are some of the better photos I took (just light really...)
For more information and pictures, heres my article on the event:

Cold desire makes a moon without a tide

My bleached shorts! I added black ink to them as well when wet to create more of a tie-die effect. The ends need some work though, they were originally some nasty grey jeans donated by a friend.

In addition to this (recently took a history exam, its my favourite "intelligent" phrase) the post title is from The Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I've had them on my iPod for some time now, but have recently been listening to them too much lately. Especially "Maps". It's very good. Go buy it :)

Gigging

On the 23rd April I saw Art Brut at an instore gig at Banquet Records.

That place is an absolute legend! They've housed Noah & the Whale, Mystery Jets, Frank Turner, White Lies, The Rifles, The Futureheads and many more, for a mere cost of one album. And then you get free signed posters after (and anything else you want signed, see my ticket holder below).

Now I can't wait for Alessi's Ark & Hockey: I love their single "Too Fake".

The Height Of Cool

It has to be Shingai Shoniwa, lead singer of the "up and coming" band The Noisettes. Hold your breath now, I'm about to gush ... Their latest single, Don't Upset the Rhythm is unbearably cool - the clothes in the video are amazing.
Take a look...
